Prerequisite: There are no prerequisites for this training course. However students must be able to communicate with the instructor in the language that the training is provided in, and have a computer, tablet or phone that we can hear and see you for class participation.
Audience: This training course is aimed and catered for construction rigging inspectors, safety supervisors, foremen, riggers, and employee in
command of rigging operations not employed directly by a licensed rigger.
Event Description: According to 3316.9.2.1 of the 2014 NYC Construction Codes, the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB) states this
training course is mandatory for people who oversee employees who detach and attach items to the hook of hoisting apparatus as well as
signalpersons. This training course is mandatory for employees have not been employed directly by New York City licensed rigger. Throughout the
32hour course, students will review OSHA and DOB policies, requirements, and ASME rigging guidelines with a significant focus on supervision and
coordination of rigging crews and rigging equipment installation. Topics that will be covered throughout the course are: directions on how to
visually examine rigging supplies/equipment, load weight, center of gravity calculations, crane setup, including procedures on administrating
correct rigging hitches. Students will take part in hands on activities where the students will be accountable for demonstrating, installing and using
numerous rigging applications. Consequent to successfully completing of the course, students will receive a 32 Hour Rigging Supervisor license that
will be valid for four years.
Event Logistics: Swing Staging Training & Safety, LLC provides certification of specific OSHA and Scaffold operations and use. With presentation, equipment awareness, and physical interaction or widely used as well as new products in a classroom setting and practical operation of heavy equipment widely used throughout the industry in a practical room fitted with state of the art products. Students operate and fully inspect the live equipment they use and/or see on their job sites.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Analyze hitch arrangements, supplies/equipment capacities, fundamental knots, how to calculate the weight of the load and how to find
the center of gravity - Identify signaling qualifications used during rigging operations
- Examine rigging supplies/equipment in agreement with ASME, OSHA and manufacturer requirements
- Utilize rigging supplies/equipment and hitches with familiarity of rigging capacities, load angle factors, and load integrity
- Identify many dangers involved with to rigging in construction
